Abstract

The following article has as its objective the reading of some of the modalities of veneration of San La Muerte in the Argentine Northeast, taking as an empirical basis the information gathered in the ethnographic field work between 2010 and 2018. Field experiences allow us to give account of a complex veneration in constant updating and resignification; we outline an approach that enables us to deepen some of the forms of relationship between the devotees and the Saint: altars, tattoos, human bone talismans, inlays and festivals constitute the network of communications on which we approach the proposed cut. We can appreciate how the cult of San La Muerte is one of the venerations in the process of growth in the area under study.
